So yeah, the character with which I have the largest amount of Tyria uncovered is my mesmer, my first PvE character. ^_^

Still, I usually just use a randomly put together build for running around and revealing those foggy spots on the map. So, does anyone have an effective build for cartographing in Tyria for a mesmer?

Any PvE build that works will do, tbh. I would advise against speed buffs as when you edge, it can often take a second or so for the map to fully fill in. If you zoom past this wont happen and you'll miss bits.

The one I tended to use a lot was OQZDAYoCP3UVwKYZAU1ADBOA

Wastrels Demise, Energy burn, Clumsiness, Glyph Of Renwal, Web of disruption, empathy, Shatter hex and backfire.

Nowadays you could swap in cry of pain for Web, but tbh the temptation to use it as a nuke not an interupt is sometimes too strong. Tastes may vary etc.

I too have been using an all-around PvE build, occasionally swapping a skill or two for some specific area:

Currently at 99.4%, [skill]Frustration[/skill] indeed

However, I was hoping more for something where the skills helped me survive and run at the same time. Sorry if I wasn't clear, but I mean a running build to explore Tyria while NOT fighting the enemies in the area.

You could try the Arcane Echo/Shadow Form build. It works pretty well for Chest Running, and is relatively decent for Cartography.
